Kozy Heat Calloway 50 Installed in New Construction Lake Home

Building a custom home at Smith Mountain Lake is all about creating a space that feels both luxurious and comfortable year-round. One feature that continues to grow in popularity in lake homes is the see-through fireplace—and for good reason.

In this recent project, our team at Skyline Hearth & Fire installed a stunning Kozy Heat Calloway 50 see-through direct vent fireplace in a beautiful new construction home overlooking Smith Mountain Lake. The result is a dramatic focal point that connects two living spaces while delivering warmth, ambiance, and modern design.

Why Homeowners Love See-Through Fireplaces

see-through fireplace, sometimes called a double-sided fireplace, allows the fire to be viewed from two rooms at the same time.

This creates several advantages:

• Connects two living spaces visually
• Adds a dramatic architectural feature
• Allows both rooms to enjoy the warmth and ambiance
• Creates a luxury centerpiece in modern homes

In lake homes especially, see-through fireplaces are often used between a great room and dining room, or between a living area and outdoor living space.

The Fireplace: Kozy Heat Calloway 50

For this project, we installed the Kozy Heat Calloway 50, one of the most impressive see-through gas fireplaces available today.

This fireplace offers:

• Large viewing area on both sides
• Modern clean-face design
• High efficiency direct vent system
• Beautiful flame presentation
• Flexible finishing options for custom designs

The Calloway series is ideal for new construction homes where homeowners want a bold statement fireplace that becomes a centerpiece of the home.

Improving Heat Distribution with the KZK Cool Wall System

In addition to the fireplace itself, we installed a KZK Cool Wall heat transfer system.

This system helps redirect heat away from the wall above the fireplace and distribute it into another area of the home.

Benefits include:

• Reduces heat buildup above the fireplace
• Allows more design flexibility above the unit
• Improves overall heat distribution in the home

For many homeowners, this also allows for clean modern fireplace designs without a traditional mantle.

Behind the Scenes of the Installation

This video gives a behind-the-scenes look at the installation process and includes footage captured using:

• On-site phone video
• GoPro cameras
• Aerial drone footage of the property

It’s a great way to see what goes into installing a high-end fireplace in a custom home.
